The Zahra TNVR Initiative is a collaborative effort between ADAN, local veterinarians, and the Agafay Desert camp to improve the lives of the cats living in the desert through humane care and sustainable population management.
⟡
Our mission is to raise awareness and funds to provide adoption opportunities, spaying, vaccination, and essential medical care for the cats at the camp, beginning with a pilot TNVR program. The project will be funded through Zahra’s GoFundMe and supported by her growing online community, inspiring visitors and followers to take part in meaningful animal welfare efforts in Morocco.
⟡
By working together with local partners and compassionate supporters around the world, we hope to create a model for responsible, community-driven animal care that protects both the animals and the environment they call home.
Wear it for Zahra. Every purchase directly funds the Zahra TNVR Initiative, supporting trap, neuter, vaccinate, and return care for desert cats in Morocco.
About This Group
A peer-led support and resource-sharing space for people navigating international adoption of stray animals.
⟡
Members share firsthand experiences, practical guidance, and ethical considerations around veterinary care, travel logistics, flight guardians, and humane rescue practices, including TNVR.
⟡
Formed through the rescue of Zahra the Desert Cat, with many resources reflecting that experience. Knowledge from all countries is welcome.
⟡
This is not a rescue organization and does not coordinate adoptions or transport. Kindness, respect, and good-faith participation are required.
Association for the Defense of
Animals & Nature
⟡
Zahra’s page works with ADAN, the Association for the Defense of Animals and Nature, based in Rabat, Morocco. ADAN has been protecting animals and the environment in Morocco for more than 15 years.
⟡
They run two shelters, one for dogs called Le Dispensaire des Chiens and one for cats called La Maison des Chats. Together they care for over 200 animals and provide as much help as their resources allow.
⟡
ADAN also organizes spay and neuter clinics, responds to cruelty cases, and visits local schools to teach children about kindness and respect toward animals. Their goal is to build a culture of compassion and raise awareness about the importance of sterilization and proper care.
